EPIC Weekend Adventure - Parts Car

Decided to take the parts car to the shop with Ben last Sunday. I decided to take the risk to drive 20km with a messed up con-rod bearing to see how reliable this old Cressy was. I wasn't interested in the engine anyway.

The perspex windshield was really blurred and messed up, i decided to take it off. After a few km our faces felt pretty numb. Quite a bad idea in hindsight.

But nothing would prepare us for what would come next. About 5km or so into the journey as we neared the 1st NPE toll booth from Subang, the car died at the toll. So Ben and I got out, pushed the car closer to the booth, paid the toll to the merciless toll booth attendant who insisted we pay it and pushed the car to the roadside.

Luckily for us, we had my girlfriend Nadine, drive the Vios along. So we managed to jump start the car.
At this point we just assumed it was a weak battery caused by a faulty alternator and continued on our way.

Things were starting to look like we would get to the shop without any further delays, but another 5km later, at another toll booth, the engine died again. Pushed the car through the booth and paid another heartless toll booth attendant. Refer to paragraph two on jumpstarting the car.

Again, we got on our way. This time, approaching the 3rd toll booth we noticed some moron trying to bully the Vios, so i gunned the engine burnt con-rod bearing or not, WOT, all guns blazing, horn blaring in attempt to exact revenge on the Vios's aggressor.

Unfortunately for both me and Ben, the engine died at the toll booth again, and we came to a halt. Refer to paragraph one and two for the next steps. With that out of the way, we were confident we would make it to the shop.

At the next toll we got Nadine to drive ahead and pay the toll for us. This time, success was ours. I gunned the engine and got into second gear, and as soon as the Vios left the toll booth, i floored the old Cressy and we got through! What a joyous moment.

As we were celebrating, shouting and clenching our fists in triumph, disaster struck. The car struggled to climb up an incline and although I dropped gears, there didn't seem to be anymore torque left in her. We stopped, tried to jump it again, this worked but it died again.

We finally conceded defeat and decided to have it towed to the shop. Which in fact, was only 1km or so away. Although i don't want to admit it, all this, ALL THIS was caused by my laziness to tighted the battery head connectors.

How do i know? Because after it was done, the old Cressy ran like a dream. Oh, i forgot to mention, the tow truck reversed right into the rear of the car, depressing the bumper about 3/4 of it's length. No worries though, as the bumper came right back out as the truck inched forward a little.

Pictures and pushing coutesy of Ben! Thanks Bro.
